What is keyword density — and does it matter?

Keyword density is the percentage of times a word or phrase appears relative to the total word count. There is no magic number Google rewards, but density is still a useful diagnostic: if your target keyword barely appears, the page may not read as relevant; if it appears far too often, it can look like keyword stuffing.

Modern SEO favours natural language, synonyms and topical depth over hitting a specific percentage. Use this tool to sanity-check balance, not to chase a magic ratio.

How to use the results

  • Confirm your main keyword and close variations actually appear in the copy.
  • Watch for any single term dominating unnaturally (often a sign of over-optimisation).
  • Switch to 2- and 3-word phrases to see the topics your content really emphasises.
  • Thin word counts on important pages are a red flag — aim for depth that fully answers the query.
What keyword density should I target?

There's no official target. For most content a primary keyword naturally lands somewhere around 0.5–2%. Focus on reading naturally and covering the topic thoroughly rather than a number.

Does this tool send my text anywhere?

No. The analysis runs entirely in your browser — nothing is uploaded or stored.
